Summer exhibitions

The 9th Möhkönvirta exhibition will bring contemporary art from Finland and neighboring countries to Möhkö Ironworks Museum and Parppeinvaara Bardic Village. In the museum buildings you can find high-quality modern art. The works of the exhibition include paintings, sculptures, installations, media art, graphics, drawings and watercolors. In Möhkönvirta, works of art and the cultural history of Ilomantsi are having an interesting dialog, surrounded by the summer north karelian nature and landscape.

The artists invited to the 2018 exhibition are: Hanna Järvenpää, Liperi, Sanna Korteniemi, Rovaniemi, Igor Kotukov, Petrozavodsk, Russia, Heikki Leis, Tartu, Estonia, Tuomas Ollikainen, Joensuu, Torunn Ovanger, Tromsø, Norway, Jouni Viljakainen, Imatra and Saeid Ahmadgog , Tampere and Heidi Vasara, Joensuu.

The exhibition is curated by artists Heidi Vasara and Kari Virtanen.

The Möhkönvirta exhibition is open 2.6.-1.9.2018 during the opening hours of the museums.

The fox themed exhibition tells about fox as a biological creature living as well in the wilderness as in the modern cities. The exhibition also includes photos of nature photographer Juha Mälkönen telling of life of a city fox family. The exhibition is produced by The Hunting Museum of Finland.

The exhibition is open 1.6 - 31.8.2018 during the museum's opening hours.
