Möhkönvirta -Contemporary Art Exhibition
Modern art and North Karelian cultural history are combined at the Möhkönvirta -Contemporary Art Exhibition.
In summer 2020 the exhibition offers a large variety of challenging and fun art by nine marvellous artists from Finland and Norway. The artists are Marsil Andjelov Al-Mahamid from (Tromsö, Norway), Leena Reittu (Joensuu, Finland), Reetta Ahonen (Imatra, Finland), Karoliina Arvilommi (Värtsilä, Finland), Hanna Räty (Juva, Finland), Susanna Pälviä (Mäntyharju, Finland), Marja-Riitta Siimala (Joensuu, Finland), Raija Marttinen and Hanna Vahvaselkä (Mikkeli, Finland).
The artists of Möhkönvirta work with a variety of artistic mediums and styles. The exhibition displays sculptures, installations, assemblages, textiles and graphics among others. The works are placed in the museum buildings of the Möhkö Ironworks and in the ironworks setting, alonside the collections of the museum. At the Parppeinvaara Rune Singer's Village the works are on display in the outbuildings of the area.
The exhibitions is open during the museum’s opening hours.
